Severe Thunderstorm Evaluation and Predictability in Climate Models

ESSL researchers Georg Pistotnik, Pieter Groenemeijer and Thilo Kühne are working on the project Severe Thunderstorm Evaluation and Predictability in Climate Models (STEPCLIM). The goal of the project is to develop methods to extract information from climate models regarding the frequency of severe weather, to evaluate decadal climate models with these methods. This four-year project, running until November 2015, is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research. A slightly more detailed project description can be found here: http://www.fona-miklip.de/en/350.php. We will present research highlights on this site as they become available.
