The programme in those weeks assumes you are a very experienced forecaster highly educated in forecasting convective storms. <\/em><em>Please contact us if you would like to be considered for an invitation. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"background-color: #e8eaeb;\"><i>The&nbsp;ESSL Testbed&nbsp;2021&nbsp;will&nbsp;take&nbsp;place&nbsp;online using ESSL&#8217;s video-conferencing subscription.&nbsp;<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is new in 2021?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this Testbed edition, a number of new products and will be evaluated. They will probably include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>A number of improved Nowcasting products from DWD&#8217;s SINFONY project<\/li><li>DWD&#8217;s ensemble NWP system ICON-D2-EPS<\/li><li>ECMWF&#8217;s Extreme Forecast Index for CAPE and CAPESHEAR<\/li><li>Ensemble model from ZAMG<\/li><li>other products<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For whom is the Testbed?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;goal of the Testbed is twofold. First, it caters forecasters who want to learn how to forecast severe convective storms using state-of-the-art forecasting tools. Second, it is a hands-on evaluation of new, sometimes experimental, forecast products. This means that both forecasters and developers of forecast products&nbsp;have an interest in the Testbed. In addition, other people having a background in meteorology are most welcome to participate as well. It is&nbsp;expected that&nbsp;each participant&nbsp;prepares for the Testbed with approximately one day of studying both the Operations Plan and getting acquainted with the Data Interface in the weeks before travelling to Wiener Neustadt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good preparation for the Testbed participation are our courses.&nbsp;<a title=\"Upcoming Event Calendar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essl.org\/cms\/upcoming-events\/\">Click here for more information<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the seminar participants&nbsp;will receive a <strong>participation certificate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Registration for the Testbed 2021 is open. <\/em><\/strong><br>Forecasters and researchers or developers who want to participate in the ESSL Testbed are asked to register as early as possible in order to get a place in the desired week. Last year some of the weeks were already booked out in early spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The registration consists of two steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Filling in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.essl.org\/cms\/essl-testbed\/testbed-registration-form\/\">online registration form<\/a><\/li><li>Paying the participation fee by Credit Card or bank transfer (see below)<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Important: The registration has only been completed after the payment has arrived at ESSL, and after your registration was confirmed by ESSL.
