They include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>temperature and humidity profiles from the hyperspectral sounder instrument IASI, and derived convective parameters in cooperation with EUMETSAT<\/li><li>various instability parameters based on the newest version of the ECMWF Integrated Forecast System<\/li><li>the latest version of the nowcasting system NowcastMIX of the German weather service DWD<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The evaluation of further products is still being discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For whom is the Testbed?<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;goal of the Testbed is twofold. First, it caters forecasters who want to learn how to forecast severe convective storms using state-of-the-art forecasting tools. Second, it is a hands-on evaluation of new, sometimes experimental, forecast products. This means that both forecasters and developers of forecast products&nbsp;have an interest in the Testbed. In addition, other people having a background in meteorology are most welcome to participate as well. The Testbed hours are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<table class=\"wp-block-table\"><tbody><tr><td>Monday<\/td><td>10:00 &#8211; 17:00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Tuesday<\/td><td>09:00 &#8211; 17:00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Wednesday<\/td><td>09:00 &#8211; 17:00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Thursday<\/td><td>09:00 &#8211; 17:00<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Friday<\/td><td>09:00 &#8211; 13:00<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Preparation<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Testbed participants are provided with the Operations Plan and access to the ESSL Testbed Data Interface two weeks before the first testbed week. It is&nbsp;expected that&nbsp;each participant&nbsp;prepares for the Testbed with approximately one day of studying both the Operations Plan and getting acquainted with the Data Interface in the weeks before travelling to Wiener Neustadt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A good preparation for the Testbed participation are our seminars.&nbsp;<a title=\"Upcoming Event Calendar\" href=\"https:\/\/www.essl.org\/cms\/upcoming-events\/\">Click here for more information<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the end of the seminar participants&nbsp;will receive a <strong>participation certificate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Registration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>The Testbed 2019 is fully booked. <\/em><\/strong><br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Forecasters and researchers or developers who want to participate in the ESSL Testbed are asked to register as early as possible in order to get a place in the desired week. Due to the legal nature of credit card and wiring payments (e.g. time limits for withdrawal apply), a formal written receipt can only be provided to the participant at the Testbed and cannot be certificated before or after the Testbed.<\/li><li>Within 14 days after registration has been completed (which includes paying the fee), ESSL will inform participants per e-mail whether they could be scheduled in their indicated week of preference, or in the alternative week they have indicated. Non-attendance or other reasons on the side of the participant cannot be accepted.
