We suggest this seminar for advanced meteorologists and hydrologists, experienced warning forecasters and private as well as governmental risk assessors:\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Heavy precipitation is a\u00a0particular challenge to forecast, given the small spatial and temporal scales on which it occurs, and the\u00a0limited predictability of deep convection. The hazards associated with flash flooding are an even\u00a0greater challenge, as detailed information about hydrology and antecedent conditions is also required.<\/p>\n

This course will address the current state of knowledge about convective heavy rainfall and flash flooding, along\u00a0with current research aimed at improving forecasts through increased understanding and\u00a0sophisticated numerical modeling techniques.<\/p>\n

In the morning sessions, we will cover the background material, and in the afternoon sessions there will be hands-on analysis and forecasting exercises using real-world cases. Our senior trainer\u00a0Dr. Tom\u00e1\u0161 P\u00fa\u010dik will assist the participants during these exercises.<\/p>\n
